So the first Preview is done. It’s such a big relief to actually go through this process of making a film, completing it and then finally showcasing it to people on the big screen. It’s tedious, tremendously nerve wrecking and emotionally takes its toll. When you are done with a film & finally screening it, [...]
Dubbing. Its a bad word in my dictionary. I am a lover of live sound. for those who dont know the technicalities Let me explain. When you shoot a film you record video and audio. The audio is not suitable for use to project on a big screen in most cases because there is too [...]
Before I go on to share my worthwhile experiences working in the film I would like to Thank Swaroop Kanchi for giving me this wonderful opportunity to work in this film. This has been my first platform where I got into and learnt the art of film making. Swaroop has been a mentor,a friend and also [...]

Bengaloored First Cut is ready. I just finished work on the edit. But this is still very early stages, next I’ll need to polish up the entire film, work towards a more solid and smoother final cut with transitions, color correction et al. I must say this is quite a relief too, to be able [...]
The first time I met swaroop kanchi…. i was like… man………..this guy is much much younger than I had thought …..and what I liked about him immediately was his confidence! So what really made me take up this project?? ‘Bengaloored‘ itself…. being a Bangalorean myself it was cool to be part of the film .. i am [...]

Shamshad Khan is our Photographer who worked on Stop motion photography for the film, here she shares a few words about her experience working on the film. It was one of those days. Here I am posting some pictures of our Heroine Meghana being mobbed by school children.
The shooting is completed. Atleast the principal photography, we still have one more day of montages to shoot. The shooting has gone off exceptionally well. I am really amazed, surprised, excited, relieved and happy about the entire shooting span and how things have turned out. Having said that Shooting a film is only 25% of [...]
Day 8 shooting is completed. I thought Id put up a picture from the shoot. still working hard, still smiling, still rolling, letting nature take its course. Love Kanchi
We have completed 6 days of shooting. I am happy with how it’s going. The actors have all been very understanding and performing above my expectations, especially some of the ensemble cast who I did not think would raise the bar even higher, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I have been going through [...]
I am sitting here at the cusp of the third day of shooting. We have completed 2 days, it’s been a lot of fun, a LoTTT of work and some craziness. The process has been bit slow I think, we are behind the schedule a bit, but we’re creating good work, getting good shots and [...]
Tomorrow is the first day of shooting. I am very very nervous but also very very excited. I have butterflies, cockroches and lizards in my stomach. The first day we have a lot on our plate, shooting entire day in an Old house in Malleshwaram. Just wishing & hoping all will go good and we [...]
I am getting more comfortable with how I am planning to shoot. A little more relaxed, but also a lot more anxious. Cant wait to just start shooting. Some crew members are exceptional in their attitude and passion & commitment, some are outrageously irresponsible and are in the team for the wrong reasons. Sometimes I [...]

The beauty of film making is that one day you are ready to kill yourself, the next heavens are brought down for your own pleasure. Last week was crazy, started easy-ended crazy, this week we are going through major shift in the dynamics of the film. A friend told me to ‘BELIEVE’ so I am. [...]
Crazy day. Hard day. Ive had a head ache the entire day. Went through the script with the male lead. Some issues with cast & crew. Ever since I wrote in the previous post that I want to be patient and calm, Ive been getting angry, losing cool and getting stressed. But that’s film making [...]
Yesterday June 5th 2009 was supposed to be an auspicious day, so some one suggested that we do our first shot yesterday. Well to me any day I can start shooting is an auspicious day. We did some montages last night with Suneel. It was a good warmup before we start with the real deal. [...]
Meghana plays Radha, our Female Lead & the woman on a pedestral in the life of Our male Protagonist. Meghana is a professional actress, born & bought up in the USA, she has returned to India to re-discover her roots and pursue acting seriously.
Gave a Narration to my Assistant Directors. They enjoyed the screenplay. but I still think there’s work that needs to be done. Finishing touches to the screenplay, most often than not the the small things make a big difference. The attention should be focussed on the details. The small nuances. Finalised the male lead today. [...]
The work is getting more hectic, the dates are nearing. Things are heating up. It is exciting but still a lot needs to be done. I am just trying to stay grounded and enjoy the process..and stay balanced. The story needs some more working. I like it, now is the time to polish it and [...]
JUNE 2 2009 Made a few changes in the script. Getting rid of a few characters because they didnt add anything to the story. Still feel like I need to develop the male lead- femal lead relationship a bit- its just a little undercooked. Still working towards a good male lead- need to positively fix [...]
We kind of fixed the male lead’s father’s character. Need to re-confirm. We kind of fixed a location for the old poet’s house. We kind of fixed the lead actress. We kind of have a big meeting with a big theatre guy for the old poet’s role. we kind of really really still looking for [...]
This is a small test run we shot to try out some stop motion photography & some video footage together. Work still needs to be done to master the technique. But it was a fun shoot & we learnt a lot about how we can adapt stop motion into film and still make it work.
On 31st May. We did a test run with a few new techniques to shoot. One of the pictures from the dry shoot.
Location option for Male lead’s house. I think it’s perfect, just need to see if the interiors will fit as well. For my taste, it’s a little too small inside & too cramped with too many things..and moving stuff will be a problem & might be inconvenient for the owners
40 pages of screenplay typed out. Script in the head, need to take print outs. Casting going slow. so far locations dont seem like a problem. Title fixed – BENGALOORED. Waiting for producer’s return. waiting for casting director’s return. waiting for one good Assistant Director. Fixed Art director & two Assistnt directors. Have to still [...]
Yesterday June 5th 2009 was supposed to be an auspicious day, so some one suggested that we do our first shot yesterday. Well to me any day I can start shooting is an auspicious day. We did some montages last night with Suneel. It was a good warmup before we start with the real deal. My core team also needs sometime before they can understand the way I work. No clapboards, no real shot breakdowns, not many rehearsals, it can drive anyone crazy, more often than that it drives My chief AD totally crazy. But the way I work also gives me tremendous freedom to capture moments of spontaneity and keeps the actors mind fresh, not jaded.
All the characters are cast. We have our final cast list which we will put up soon. We are still looking for some locations. But that too should be done ASAP. I enjoyed shooting montages last night. I want to enjoy the process as much as possible and one of my goals as a director this time around is to stay as calm and collected and patient through the entire shoot.
More updates coming soon. Thanks for all the support to all.
